President
a.) The President shall preside at Board meetings and General Meetings
of the Society.
b.) The President shall supervise the affairs of the Society subject to
the approval of the Board of Directors.
c.) The President shall be the judge of order at the General Meetings.
d.) the President shall fill non-elective offices subject to approval
of the Board of Directors. The term of office of each appointee shall
be concurrent with that of the President.
e.) The President shall appoint the chairperson of all committees and
shall be an ex-officio member of all committees, excepting the nominating
committee.
f.) The Charter Certificate of Incorporation of the New York State Society
of Medical Massage Therapists, Inc., shall be kept by the President, who
shall be responsible for its safekeeping.
g.) The President shall be custodian of the gavel.
h.) On expiration of the term of office, the retiring President shall
surrender the State Charter and the gavel, and all other papers pertaining
to the Society to the successor.
i.) The President shall place motions before the body when seconded and
shall vote only in the case of a tie.
j.) The President may speak on a motion, amendment, resolution or point
of order, provided he/she first yields the Chair to the next subordinate
officer present.
k.) In case of inability to perform the official duties, the President
shall notify the Vice-President to act in his/her stead.
l.) The President shall appoint tellers at the time of elections.
m.) The President shall be co-signer of all membership certificates and
cards.
n.) The President’s term of office shall not be more than two consecutive
terms.
